For years now, I've been a huge fan of breakfast smoothies. The convenience of making a smoothie before dashing out the door, then drinking it whilst stuck in Melbourne traffic. But I'll admit, I've been late to the smoothie bowl trend. Reading more and more on health sites, blogs and seeing delicious vibrant pictures, The concept is simple enough, so I thought I'd give it a go.
Most recipes require only 3-4 ingredients, blender, and 5 minutes. Even better is the best part of smoothie bowls is the toppings. We were able to perfectly pair them with our delicious granola.
The trick seems to be the blend. Not overworking the smoothie, but keeping the consistency of a soft serve ice cream.
I tried a couple of recipes, but here's my top 2 recipes. Particularly on these hot summer days smoothie bowls are a simple, cold treat!
